Artport South is owned and operated by Don Hunter and Ana Terry.

Ana has been working in the creative sector for 40 years, as an artist, graphic designer, and lecturer in design and fine art in Aotearoa, Malaysian Borneo, China, including a Fulbright Scholarship in the United States. She is a leading expert and researcher in visual literacy in tertiary education and adult workplace learning, and serves on the governance committee of the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA).

Don has 25 years’ experience in the arts, in roles ranging from local government arts advisor and arts technician to lecturer (Aotearoa, Malaysian Borneo, China, and the United States), management advisor, mentor, and practising artist. Don served on the Dunedin City Council Arts Grants Funding Subcommittee (2020-2025).

Together, Don and Ana have been awarded and undertaken several art residencies, including William Hodges Fellows, the inaugural Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Platform China Residency in Beijing, and Casa Tres Patios in Medellín, Colombia. They have curated exhibitions in Aotearoa, Vanuatu, and Colombia, and worked with organisations such as Wan Smolbag Theatre and the Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta as advisers with Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA). 

With a combined 65 years in the arts and cultural sector, Ana and Don bring a wealth of knowledge, commitment, and care to every project.
